Baseball
The Optimist Club of Annapolis sponsors baseball teams for high school age players during the summer and fall and participates in leagues organized by the Anne Arundel Amateur Baseball Association (associated with Anne Arundel County Bureau of Recreation and Parks). For summer year 2006 play, we are fielding three teams:
Connie Mack 18U League—for competitive players at high school varsity level. The team plays 4-5 times a week plus tournament and post-season play. Home field is Annapolis High School.
Mickey Mantle 16U League—the county's "A" league of 16U teams for club level with competitive JV players and some younger varsity players. The team plays 4-5 times a week plus tournament and post-season play. Home field is Annapolis High School.
Joe E Brown 16U League—for less established players, including rising freshman and less experienced JV players. The team plays 3-4 games per week plus a double-elimination post-season tournament for the top-finishing teams. Home field is Generals Highway Corridor Park.
The Annapolis Optimist Club also supports the American Legion Post 226 (Mayo) baseball team with financial support and cooperation in developing advanced players. The club also plays an active role in maintaining and improving the Annapolis High School baseball field.
